Game Development Student

About Me

Gaming in all forms: computer-based, board games and tabletop role playing games have been my passion for as long as I can remember and I'm currently studying hard to help me realise my passion.

I enjoy collaborating with a wide range of people and am comfortable both as a committed team player and as a leader depending on the situation. I thrive on problem solving whether it be getting a game mechanic to work, getting a video to look just right or resolving arguments between team members.

For both years I attended Sixth Form college to study a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games Technology, I was the student representative for my course, and in this role, I made it my mission to connect individually with all the students that I represented to actively listen to their concerns and issues and feed that information back as appropriate to the course leader.

Since September 2024, I have been studying for a BSc (Hons) in Game Development.

In addition to my studies, I enjoy being a part of, and contributing to, student life by being an active member and treasurer of the D&D Society and working part-time for the Student Union as an Advice Assistant. In September 2026, I will be starting my role as President of the D&D Society.

I am also a member of an online tabletop role playing group in which I act as the Game Master. The role of Game Master has provided me with ample opportunity to enhance my writing and communication skills as I plan out the storyline of a campaign and then run that story with multiple people. As the campaign progresses, I adapt the details of the story on-the-fly based on the choices made by participants. This has given me a very good grounding in creating engaging narratives. As part of this, I also work closely with each participant on a one-to-one basis to help them to create their character within the world. Some participants come to the group with no understanding of the game system, so I also spend time explaining the mechanics and making sure they understand how to interact within the game.

In my university and previous college studies, I have consistently organised my time to enable me to submit all assignments on time, attend all appropriate sessions and contribute positively to discussions. As part of my course, I have been involved in multiple projects both as a team member and as a team leader. I have received positive feedback from other team members on my contributions and organisational abilities. My studies have given me experience in using a wide variety of IT applications for communication and documentation, along with tools for developing games, associated documentation and project management tracking.
